SPANISH AMBASSADOR DELGADO PAYS COURTESY CALL ON SPEAKER ROMUALDEZ

Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Miguel Utray Delgado, paid a courtesy call on Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez at the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
Ambassador Delgado informed the Speaker that the Embassy has an ongoing communication with the Philippine Navy to introduce Navantia, a Spanish state-owned shipbuilding company that designs and constructs high technology military and civilian vessels.
Speaker Romualdez remarked that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has expressed desire to level up the country’s defense and security, especially due to tensions in the West Philippine Sea.
Ambassador Delgado said that there is already an official invitation for representatives of the Philippine Navy to visit Navantia’s facility in Spain and look into their submarines for possible bidding.
Joining the Speaker during the courtesy call were Senior Deputy Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos, Committee on Foreign Affairs Chairperson Rep. Ma. Rachel Arenas, Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Diplomacy Chairperson Rep. Glona Labadlabad, Rep. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, and Secretary General Reginald Velasco.
Prior to the courtesy call, the Ambassador also met with Committee on Accounts Chairperson Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez, Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability Chairperson Rep. Florida "Rida" Robes, Deputy Majority Leader Marlyn Primicias-Agabas, and Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan.
