To better equip its workforce with effective writing skills, the House of Representatives Administrative Department under Deputy Secretary General Dr. Ramon Ricardo Roque, CESO I Diplomate conducted a Technical Writing Seminar for the first batch of participants. It was facilitated by Dr. Jonalou San Juan Labor from the University of the Philippines. In her opening remarks Personnel Transaction Group OIC Chief Abigail Bernardo Mangulabnan said in today’s age of technology, having good communication skills is very important. She added that the seminar would help give the participants and the organization credibility. “Technical writing inspires confidence in you and your office. I hope that the activity we do here, the knowledge and insights that will be imparted today, will help you absorb helpful information that may help you become more proficient in writing to communicate,” she said. Topics discussed by Labor during the seminar included: 1) self confidence in communicating messages; 2) combating common issues in language use; as well as 4) technical writing formats, its nature and characteristics. After the seminar, Roque awarded the certificates of participation to the attendees as well as a certificate of appreciation for seminar facilitator Labor.
