Members, Secretariat officials and employees, as well as congressional staff of the House of Representatives on Monday held a flag raising ceremony to kick off a month-long series of activities in celebration of HRep Month 2022 with the theme “One House, One Voice.” The Office of the Secretary General headed by Secretary General Reginald Velasco sponsored the flagraising ceremony, with House Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe as the event’s special guest. In his inspirational message, Dalipe thanked the House Secretariat and congressional staff, attributing the 19th Congress’ notable achievements to their hard work and support. He noted that the long hours of work the past six weeks amid the pandemic have paid off through the timely passage of the responsive 2023 General Appropriations Bill (GAB). “Your dedication has made it possible for us to approve next year’s national budget and several other important bills. Maraming salamat for ensuring that we meet the deadline," he said. While Dalipe raised that work ahead is daunting, he stressed that the House is committed to approve the priority measures of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez geared at serving the Filipino people. “With your dedication, expertise, and work ethics, I am sure that we will continue to fulfill our mandate to uplift the lives of our fellow Filipinos and to promote the nation’s best interest,” he said. With this, Dalipe reported that the legislative work continues despite the adjournment of session, with the House leadership authorizing all committees to conduct meetings and public hearings.
