Speaker Prospero C. Nograles today expressed deep concern over the reported A(H1N1)-related death of one of the employees of the House of Representatives.

"The latest reported casualty is one of our employees. I have already instructed the concerned House officials to coordinate and maintain close coordination with the Department of Health in order to mitigate possible effects on other employees and their families," Nograles said.

In an urgent instructions from the Speaker, House officials have already suspended work in the House of Representatives from noon until Sunday, June 28, 2009, to allow the sanitation of all the buildings and other procedural steps needed, in coordination with the Department of Health.

"Our Medical services will spearhead, in coordination with the DOH, all the necessary precautionary steps needed to eliminate further health hazards. This includes the necessary contact tracing of possible victims and their families," Nograles said.

Employees of the House of Representatives, since Monday, have been receiving free flu vaccination which could be extended to members of their families by next week.

The Speaker also urged all employees, or any one for that matter, to report any suspicious incidence or symptoms of said flu virus to help prevent further spread of the dreaded virus.

"The employees will all be monitored," Nograles said in a text message when asked for his instructions amid the recent development.

He said that the medical department of the House "will work this out properly according to standard procedures."
