11 October 2019 09:04:37 AM

House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta today attributed the high trust and approval ratings garnered by Speaker Alan Peter “Compañero” Cayetano in the recent Pulse Asia survey to the House top leader's productive and strong leadership.

Marcoleta cited the expeditious passage of the 2020 General Appropriations Bill which exhibited the House Members’ commitment to fulfill their duties in serving the Filipinos and provide the needs of the people through legislation. The proposed national budget for next year was approved a month after Acting Budget and Management Secretary Wendel Avisado submitted it to the House last August 20, 2019.

Marcoleta mentioned the close and harmonious rapport Speaker Cayetano built with his colleagues which led to the approval of several landmark legislation. In the middle of the committee hearings and plenary debates on the 2020 GAB, he said the House managed to pass several priority measures of President Duterte, including the bills on the Corporate Income Tax and Incentives Rationalization Act (CITIRA) and the Passive Income and Financial Intermediary Taxation Act (PIFITA).

With this, Marcoleta hopes that the achievements and efficiency of the House in the 18th Congress, through the leadership of Speaker Cayetano, would persist to ensure that the concerns of all constituencies shall be attended to as the legislators strive for more meaningful bills.

In the latest Pulse Asia survey, which was conducted from September 16 to 22, 2019, Speaker Cayetano garnered an approval rating of 62% and trust rating of 64%. He also got the lowest disapproval rating of 6% among the top five national officials of the government.
