House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Jr. stresses that direct investments is a vital fuel to sustain and maximize economic growth before participants of the "Arangkada Philippines" Forum at the Makati Shangri-la and lay down three major tasks designed to entice capital inflows for local industries. These tasks include enhancement of firm competitiveness, further improvement of business environment and regulatory governance, and a sustained macroeconomic stability. The Speaker recalled that the forum, organized by the Joint Foreign Chambers (leaders of local and International chambers of commerce in the country), resonates the words of President Benigno Aquino III at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on "realizing the long-untapped potential" of the Philippines. He further cited the growing recognition of the country as a growth leader among larger emerging economies. Among the important personalities in attendance (shown upper right photo) are Former President Fidel Ramos and House Deputy Speaker Erin Taņada.
