Like a breathing spell, it is refreshing to savor Filipino culture and arts seen from the eyes of Russian artists. Noting that arts transcends political, social and religious divides, Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Jr. happily took time out to grace the opening of an art exhibit, dubbed "To The Islands of Sampaguita," which centers on Filipino art and culture painted by a dozen Russian artists. The two-day (from August 15 and 16) exhibit at the North Wing Lobby of the Batasang Pambansa is being presented by the Association of Women Legislators Foundation, Inc. headed by Rep. Gina de Venecia (3rd from left) in cooperation with the National Commission in Culture and Arts represented by Ms. Cecile Guidote Alvarez, the UNESCO Dream Center (Phils.) and the Russian Embassy. Also shown are Reps. Lani Mercado-Revilla, Nur-Ana Sahidulla, Emmi De Jesus, Lucy Torres Gomez, Emi Calixto-Rubiano and Ma. Amelita Calimbas-Villarosa.
