The House of Representatives under the leadership of Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco continues to ensure the growth and development of its Secretariat workforce not only physically, intellectually, mentally, and socially, but also spiritually. On Wednesday, as part of the HREP Month celebration, the Committee Affairs Department (CAD) hosted the online fellowship and prayer service themed “Every Home is a House of Praise: God’s Design for the Family.” About 205 attendees, composed of House members, officials as well as staff, joined the event via Zoom while another 200 participants watched it through FB livestream. Guest speaker Rev. Peter Tan-Chi, founder and senior pastor of Christ's Commission Fellowship (CCF), inspired the attendees with his discussion on the family as a gift and creation of God. He said the family was designed by God to 1) show God’s goodness, 2) to pass on God’s legacy, and 3) to fulfill God’s assignment. “Every family has a calling,” he said. He urged parents to assume responsibility in teaching their children well and at developing their character. Pastor Tan-Chi said that nowadays many parents are focused more on career and money, and in the process fail to realize God’s purpose which is for them to pass on His spiritual legacy. Rep. Ron Salo (Party-list, Kabayan) delivered the closing remarks and prayer. Director Lina Mortega, Service Director of the CAD Economic Cluster 1, thanked House Secretary-General Atty. Jocelia Bighani Sipin for allowing the fellowship to be held. Mortega also acknowledged other House leaders present during the event, among them Committee on Transportation Chairman Rep. Edgard Mary Sarmiento (1st District, Samar) Deputy Secretaries-General Atty. Arlene Dada-Arnaldo, Dr. Ramon Ricardo Roque, and Dr. Edgardo Pangilinan as well as CAD Executive Director Violeta Veloso.
