The House Committee on Basic Education and Culture chaired by Rep. Roman Romulo (Lone District, Pasig City) consolidated and approved during its online meeting Wednesday, three measures seeking to address crucial and pertinent health, safety and security issues facing the different schools nationwide. Approved and consolidated were : 1) House Bill 821 authored by Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales, Jr. (3rd District, Pampanga), mandating the establishment of a permanent clinic for every public and private school; 2) HB 3228 by Rep. John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto (3rd District, Manila) and HB 4232 by Rep. Kristine Alexei Tutor (3rd District, Bohol), seeking the establishment of school health and safety office in every public school in the country. Department of Education Undersecretary Alain Pascua said that out of the 47,013 public schools nationwide, only about 28 percent or 13,081 have clinics‪. 30‬
