CONTINUOUS HELP FOR TAAL ERUPTION VICTIMS

Designated to coordinate efforts to help the congressional districts affected by Taal Volcano’s eruption, House Deputy Speaker and Antique Lone District Rep. Loren Legarda led on Wednesday the third meeting with the Quick Response Team (QRT) composed of the Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Labor and Employment, and Office of Civil Defense, among others. Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker and Batangas Sixth District Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto expressed thanks for the initiative of Speaker Alan Peter "Compañero" Cayetano in conducting a session in Batangas that triggered initiatives of other agencies and the QRT. Agencies provided updates on the status of the P7.5-billion Quick Response Fund (QRF) intended for victims of calamities and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund, among others. Legarda said their team will schedule another meeting in the district of Rep. Ma. Theresa Collantes (3rd District, Batangas) in Tanauan City.
