HECTIC BIRTHDAY

06 April 2019 09:45:40 AM

Former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo had a full schedule during the celebration of her 72nd birthday on Friday. At 8am, a mass was celebrated in her honor at the San Agustin Church in her hometown in Lubao, Pampanga. In her message after the mass, Speaker Arroyo thanked the Filipino people for giving her the opportunity to serve them. She said her legacy will center around regaining the country’s fiscal stability after a storm on financial crisis here and abroad. The Speaker said the restoration of fiscal stability was the platform for her program that built more and better infrastructures, and that reduced poverty in the country from 39 percent when she assumed the presidency, to 26 percent when she left the presidency. To continue helping Pampanga, Speaker Arroyo said she will be a consultant of her home province. Attending the mass with the Speaker were her husband Atty. Mike Arroyo, children, former Reps. Mikey and Dato and their children, several members of the House of Representatives, Pampanga local officials led Governor Lilia Pineda, and numerous friends and families. Prior to the mass, Speaker Arroyo joined the opening of the Hot Air Balloon Festival at Pradera Verde in Lubao at 6am. Speaker Arroyo’s other well-wishers include ambassadors who paid a courtesy call on her in her house in Lubao. They were H.E. Ali Ibrahim Al-Malki, of the State of Qatar, H.E. Daniel Robert Pruce of the United Kingdom and H.E. Songkane Luangmuninthone of Laos./ Photos by Perfecto Camero / Caption by Rowena B.
