The House Committee on Women and Gender Equality chaired by Rep. Bernadette Herrera-Dy (Party-list, Bagong Henerasyon) and the Association of Women Legislators Foundation, Inc. (AWLFI), in partnership with the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care, Inc. (PFBCI), on Thursday held a seminar on breast cancer awareness and screening at the House of Representatives in celebration of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Deputy Speaker and AWLFI President Linabelle Ruth Villarica, in her message, emphasized that breast cancer is curable when detected early. Aileen Antolin of the PFBCI gave the lecture, citing that one of eight Filipino women died of breast cancer every day. She disclosed that the Philippines has the highest incidence of breast cancer in Southeast Asia.
