The House of Representatives, led by former President and now Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, on Wednesday honored the 10 awardees of the Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos for 2018. The tribute was done following the adoption on Tuesday of House Resolution 2152, principally authored by Speaker Arroyo, honoring and commending the awardees. Metrobank Foundation President Aniceto Sobrepena presented the awardees to Speaker Arroyo during the recognition ceremony held at the Speaker's Social Hall. They were also acknowledged at the House plenary session.The Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos is a prestigious career-service award for Filipino exemplars in the academe, military, and police sectors. The awardees for Outstanding Teachers are Mary Jane Ramo, Alma Janagap, Aimee Marie Gragasin, and Carla Dimalanta. The awardees for Outstanding Soldiers are Lt. Col. Francis Senoron, Lt. Col. Danilo Facundo, and Lt. Col. Thomas Ryan Seguin. Meanwhile, SPO1 Aida Awitin, PS/Insp. Dennis Ebsolo, and PS/Supt. Pascual Munoz, Jr. were named Outstanding Police Officers. Other authors of the resolution are Majority Leader Rolando Andaya, Jr., Reps. Ramon Durano VI, Ann Hofer, Amado Espino Jr., Romeo Acop, Arcadio Gorriceta, Henry Oaminal, Luisa Lloren Cuaresma, Feliciano Belmonte Jr., Pia Cayetano, Jorge Banal, Lorna Bautista-Bandigan, and Juliette Uy. Present during the recognition ceremony at the Speaker's Social Hall were Reps. Joey Salceda, and Leopoldo Bataoil, Undersecretary Tonisito Umali of the Department of Education (DepEd), and delegates from the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. | Ma. Victoria Palomar/Pecto Camero
