The House Committee on Public Order and Safety chaired by Rep. Romeo Acop (2nd District, Antipolo City) on Thursday approved the consolidation of House Bills 3153 and 5787, seeking to put under the Philippine National Police (PNP) administrative supervision and operational control certain institutions. Authored by Rep. Gary Alejano (Party-list, Magdalo), HB 3153 seeks to transfer the administrative supervision and operational control of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), National Police Training Institute (NPTI), National Police College (NPC), and National Forensic Science Training Institute (NFSTI) from the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) to the PNP. Meanwhile, HB 5787 authored by Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil (2nd District, Pangasinan) proposes the transfer of the PNPA and NPTI from the PPSC to the PNP. Rep. Amado Espino, Jr. (5th District, Pangasinan) proposed the creation of a technical working group (TWG) to do the consolidation./ Jojo Menorca/ Pecto Camero
