House Deputy Speakers Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Mylene Garcia-Albano, Fredenil Castro and Mercedes Alvarez tackled questions about the Davao City bombing, the declaration of a state of lawlessness, Charter change, postponement of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, among other issues raised during the bi-monthly Media Briefing. Arroyo said President Duterte, who was her adviser on peace and order during her term as President, is highly capable of addressing terrorism and criminality. Albano-Garcia, who hails from Davao City, said Davaoeños are heartened by the strong and quick response of President Duterte to the Davao bombing incident. Castro clarified there are no additional powers given to the AFP and PNP under a state of lawlessness and that they are supposed to suppress lawless violence based on the guidelines of the President.
