CONGRESS ONLINE POLL

The Philippines is a signatory to the 1989 Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species which bans Ivory trade.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is reportedly moving to crush said imported ivory tusks by road rollers which they seized from poachers and illegal traders. On the contrary, Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Rodel Batocabe vehemently opposed the DENR move, proposing instead that the seized cargo should be donated to schools for educational use.
