CONGRESS ONLINE POLL

Both Houses of Congress passed a measure opening doors for foreigners to own as much as 40 percent of rural banks, similar to bigger commercial banks. Under current law, only Filipinos can own equity in rural banks. Proponents of the proposed reform said foreign equity will help rural banks improve services, raise capital and modernize facilities. Do you agree?

Yes, rural banks should be opened to foreign equity.
No, foreign equity in rural banks is questionable.
I am undecided.
